Study Abroad: Namibia, Africa


Skills Gained: Animal tracking, observation in behaviors in social structures, ungulate populations analyzing.

  • Conducted field work studying the differences in diversity of dune, gravel plain, and woodland ecosystems at the Gobabeb Research Centre by collecting and identifying insects, monitoring daily climatic changes, and conducting vegetation and reptile surveys using line and square transects. Analyzed data and presented results.
  • Studied the structure and political obstacles of various conservation organizations including the Elephant Human Relations Aid, Cheetah Conservation Fund, and Etosha National Park.
  • Acquired skills in tracking, observing behaviors and social structures, and analyzing the dynamics of different ungulate populations.
